IHG Hotels & Resorts Reaches 1,000 Hotels in Europe – Congratulations!

Round numbers are worth celebrating: IHG Hotels & Resorts has passed 1,000 open hotels in Europe, as the group announced on 22 October 2026. Hotelmoments warmly congratulates the entire IHG team in Europe – and the owners, general managers and hotel teams who make this milestone possible every single day.
The key facts behind the milestone
- More than 1,000 open hotels now fly an IHG flag in Europe.
- Strong growth: more than 210 hotels have joined the European portfolio over the past three years – net growth of over 25 per cent.
- A full pipeline: more than 280 further hotels are in development across Europe.
- Familiar brands in new countries: since the start of 2024, IHG has recorded 36 brand debuts in new European country markets, not counting Ruby. Recent debuts include Iceland, Sweden and Greece.
- A broad range: new openings span luxury and lifestyle, premium and essentials brands, as well as extended-stay hotels.
Karin Sheppard, IHG’s Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, sees the milestone as a sign of owners’ confidence in the group’s brands and of continued growth in its priority markets.
Three recent openings
Three hotels highlighted alongside the milestone show how varied the portfolio has become:
The Hari London, Vignette Collection: an 85-room boutique hotel in Belgravia, close to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. Vignette Collection is IHG’s collection of individual hotels, each with its own character.
Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille: set between the Old Port and La Joliette, this opening marks the lifestyle brand Ruby’s debut in France.

What the milestone means for travellers
More hotels means more choice: new brands in new countries, new addresses in cities travellers already know, and hotels for very different kinds of trip – from a city weekend to a longer stay. For guests loyal to one hotel group, it also means more places where they’ll find familiar standards.
Our view as content creators
Every new hotel faces the same challenge: being found by the right guests. That’s where we come in. We spend several nights at a hotel and present it in in-depth YouTube hotel tours, the way guests experience it. These videos stay discoverable for years and keep working for a hotel long after a story has disappeared.
We’re looking forward to the next 1,000 stories from Europe’s hotels. To see what our work looks like, explore our hotel tours and our article on hotel marketing with YouTube. Hotels interested in working with us can reach us via our contact form.
Once again: congratulations, IHG – here’s to the next milestones!
