Seville: The Most Beautiful Hotels for a City Break – Sorted by Neighbourhood

Seville is a city for all the senses: orange trees in the lanes, flamenco in Triana, Moorish palaces and rooftops looking out over the cathedral. Two things make or break a city break here – the right time of year and the right neighbourhood.
Based on our research, here are eight hotels in Seville, from a grand hotel built for 1929 to a restored townhouse with a pool on the roof.
Seville at a glance
- When to go: spring and autumn are ideal. In July, average daytime highs are around 36°C – which is when a rooftop pool or a shady patio is worth its weight in gold.
- Festivals: Holy Week (Semana Santa) falls on 21–28 March in 2027, and the Feria de Abril follows a few weeks later, expected in mid-April. Hotels book up early and prices rise sharply at both.
- Sights: the cathedral, the Alcázar and the Archivo de Indias together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Add Plaza de España in María Luisa Park, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, and the Metropol Parasol, a wooden structure with a viewing platform.
Around the cathedral and Santa Cruz
Stay here and you’re in the heart of the historic centre, among narrow lanes, small squares and the major sights.
Hotel Alfonso XIII
This grand hotel was built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and commissioned by King Alfonso XIII, who gave it his name. Tiles, arches and courtyards in the Neo-Mudéjar style make it one of Spain’s most striking hotels. The Alcázar and cathedral are a few minutes’ walk away, as is María Luisa Park.
EME Catedral Mercer
Right next to the cathedral, this design hotel’s rooftop terrace, with a pool and bar, offers one of the best views of the cathedral and the Giralda. In the evening the terrace becomes a popular cocktail spot – if you want peace and quiet, go in the afternoon.

Hotel Casa 1800
This converted 19th-century townhouse in Santa Cruz has kept its coffered ceilings and frescoes. From the rooftop terrace with its small pool, you look out at the Giralda up close. In the afternoon, guests are treated to tea, coffee and pastries in the courtyard.
El Arenal: between the cathedral and the river
Mercer Sevilla
In the El Arenal district, just a few streets from the cathedral and the Maestranza bullring, stands the late 19th-century Casa Palacio Castelar. The Mercer group has turned it into an elegant hotel with only around a dozen rooms. The banks of the Guadalquivir are close by – perfect for evening strolls.
In the centre: a grand hotel full of art
Gran Meliá Colón
This hotel was also built for the 1929 exposition, originally as the Hotel Majestic. Behind its listed façade, it’s now modern inside. Each floor is dedicated to a great Spanish painter, and the suite doors carry replicas of works by artists such as Velázquez, Murillo and Goya.
Alfalfa and Santiago: boutique hotels in old townhouses
Corral del Rey
This small boutique hotel in the Alfalfa district, a few minutes’ walk from the cathedral, has a pool on the roof. Some suites and the penthouse even have their own terrace with a small plunge pool – real luxury in summer.
Palacio de Villapanés
This 18th-century baroque palace belonged to the same noble family for almost three centuries. Today it’s a boutique hotel with a courtyard and a rooftop pool overlooking the old town. The cathedral and Alcázar are within walking distance.

Out of town: a country estate instead of the city
Hacienda de San Rafael
About an hour’s drive south of Seville, this country estate sits amid open fields. With just 14 rooms, it’s a peaceful retreat – ideal for combining a city break with a few days in the countryside, or for heading on to Jerez and the coast.

Our tips for Seville
- Pick a hotel with a pool in summer: from June to September, a pool – even a small one on the roof – is more than an extra.
- Plan around the festivals: during Semana Santa and the Feria the city is full of life, but also packed and expensive. Book early or choose other weeks deliberately.
- Explore on foot: the old town is compact. Stay centrally and you’ll hardly need a taxi.
- Build in a siesta: in summer, sightsee in the morning and evening and rest at the hotel at midday.
- Visit Triana: across the river lies the neighbourhood of ceramics and flamenco tradition.
Conclusion: experience Seville in style
The most beautiful hotels in Seville combine history with what matters most in this city: patios to breathe in, rooftops with views and short distances. Choose your neighbourhood to suit your style – and your travel dates to suit your tolerance for heat.
